️ Dive into Clarity: Proper Pool Filter Cleaning - Myths vs. Facts 🌟

As a dedicated pool service provider, we understand the importance of crystal-clear waters in your backyard oasis. That's why we're here to set the record straight on proper pool filter maintenance!

MYTH: "Cleaning your pool filter too often is beneficial for your pool."
FACT: Over-cleaning can actually damage the filter and decrease its efficiency. Your pool filter is designed to trap dirt and debris, and a slight build-up assists in the filtration process by helping to capture smaller particles.

Proper Method & Timing

The key to maintaining a pristine pool is knowing WHEN and HOW to clean your filter. Generally, you should clean your filter when the pressure gauge reads 8-10 PSI (pounds per square inch) higher than the baseline reading or at least every 6-8 weeks, depending on usage

🌀 How Pool Filters Work

Pool filters are engineered marvels that perform best when treated with care. There are mainly three types of filters - sand, cartridge, and diatomaceous earth (DE). Each type has specific cleaning methods but all share one goal: trapping contaminants and keeping water clear.

💧 Benefits of Maintenance

  • Ensures efficient water flow and reduces strain on your pool pump.

  • Extends the life of your swimming pool by preventing algae growth and cloudy water.

  • Saves money in the long run by avoiding costly repairs due to negligence.

⏳ Replacement Timeline

While cleaning is essential, replacement shouldn't be overlooked. The lifespan of a pool filter varies based on type and usage:

  • Sand filters typically last 3-7 years before needing a sand replacement.

  • Cartridge filters usually require replacement every 1-2 years.

  • DE filters should have their grids replaced approximately every 2 years.

  • DE Filters also require an annual deep cleaning and recharge. During this process, the grids are broken down, deep cleaned, and then the system is recharged with new DE Powder. This service will be schedule with you each year and is a $150 charge.

Remember, each swimming pool is unique! Regular inspections help to determine if it's time for a clean or complete replacement.
